Fit pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned to the Indian team on Monday for the T20 series against Sri Lanka and the ODI series against Australia on home soil next month. Top batsman Rohit Sharma has been rested from the T20 series. Opener Shikhar Dhawan has also made a comeback in both teams. Dhawan was injured during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match due to which he had to put 25 stitches on his knee.

The selection committee chairman MSK Prasad announced the team after a five-member committee meeting. Bumrah was out of the squad due to ‘stress fracture’ in the back and recently bowled during India’s net season ahead of the second ODI against West Indies in Visakhapatnam.

India will play a series of three T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka from January 5, while the series of three ODIs against Australia will be from January 14. Apart from Rohit, fast bowler, Mohammad Shami has also been rested from the T20 series against Sri Lanka.

Team India has given a great farewell to 2019 by beating West Indies in the first T20 and then ODI series. This was India’s last series against the Windies in 2019. Now the Indian team will play a series of three T20 matches against Sri Lanka in the first week of January. Big information has come before this series that hitman Rohit Sharma can take a break from this series. Although such speculation was being made in the series against the West Indies, the selectors did not do so. It is now reported that Rohit will not be part of the team in the series against Sri Lanka.
